This is very common in the US. Yes, the car is much newer. Importing a car becomes much easier once it's 25 years or older. Seen a number of car where it's obviously newer than advertised. Really strong chance that they lied about year of manufacture to get past the 25 year mark (no EPA/no DOT). From looking at the pics, its a mish-mosh of parts from once a pile of parts in Romania.

Yes, my Kombi is actually around a 1985, but was imported as a '72, but doesn't really affect how much I enjoy driving it.
