Terry Gilliam was on Stephen Colbert last night promoting his new film, "Zero Theorem" - it is set in the future. A brief scene was shown of a busy street full of little Smart car things and a Barkas van is seen clearly. They seem to pop up in movies more than I would expect.

Thanks for finding that. On second viewing it is not just a Barkas it is an ambulance. I think it was probably chosen because it is obvious what it is, yet would be unrecognized by most viewers as anything around today.

Haven't seen it yet, and while I'm a TG fan, I think he's retreading the same ground as Brazil. Must check Netflix to see if it's there.
