John, You're fantastic. I will help get these posted so they are directly embedded in the post. Share as much as you'd like, they are great! For everyone else. From what I understand, you can commission John to do something for you if you'd like. Contact him directly.
awesome! I can't wait to see what you come up with for the design we talked about. I got the logo already for the front.
Hi, no links here but a few pics I took in Zwickau on 16 June 2013, these are on the sides of garages, nice the theme and keeps down the gang tagging on those buildings. Includes history of Zwickau and Auto from Horch to Trabant. Enjoy
This static display is outside the last of the Werk 3 buildings, which is now being used to restore cars for private clients. This site is no longer generally open to the public, so I am told.
What is covered up along the plinth of the Trabant memorial statue? Was it from socialist times? If there was text or something altered/removed, does that mean that details of the statue itself may have been removed? It looks sort of "unfinished." I understand that the people are intended to be generic, but the car looks like it's about half finished being carved from a slab. Freaky.
It was dedicated in 1998 I seem to recall. I could be off by a year. I went to quite a few ITTs back then and they had a big ceremony that year. I was there. The style is like other statues from DDR times and the artists are the same that did others around town. It is finished, sorry it is so grainy. Maybe someone has a clearer picture.
My daughter wanted a pink Trabant and I wasn't ready for a real pink Trabant. I painted this using the colors of her bedroom.
