    Hello guys :)

I have been doing some research on the maintinence of a Trabant, as I'm beginning to close in on finally importing one to the states myself. I have heard from somewhere that one should use a lead additive for a Trabant - the fuel from when it was produced having lead - but can anyone here actually confirm that they use lead additive in their Trabant 601's fuel? Does it actually make any difference? Is it even necessary?

It is unnecessary a trabant is two stroke and the engine has no valves so no lead/additives needed

The Trabant is about as simple and uncomplicated a car as you can get. Follow the owner's manual and the maintenance schedule religiously, and your car will run great, esp. with no lead.

Yep, since no valves- no need for some squishy lead. The 2 cycle oil does more than enough. I imagine lead gas would make some weird deposits too....
