Although I haven't actually own a full size Trabant, but I've had a fasination with the Trabant's since going to a meeting back in the late 90's down at RAF Mildenhall, at the time I did have one of the older Revell models which turned out to be a pretty bad model.

Fast forward a number of years and Revell Ag released the 601s saloon, and then a year after released the Universal, now I usually buy 2 or 3 of the same model, but for some reason I've got more than that of the Trabant models, I've just finished my first saloon model in genuine Trabant champagne beige, I sent off to Germany for the paint, and now I have a Capri green Universal on the go, I have my own modelling website which I update regularly, http://geoffbrownsmodelling.webs.com/

Thank you, I have a few more model Trabants to build, I'm going to doing a few two tone Trabbi's soon, just need to get round to ordering some more paint from Germany, not the best paint I've ever airbrushed, but at least they are the correct colours

Where are you getting accurate trabant colors? Is it hobby paint or automotive supply? Good looking models by the way.

It's automotive paint, made by Autolack,

    https://www.trabantwelt.de/

It has to be the worst paint I have ever tried to airbrush, apparently it's a fast drying acrylic enamel, took me a little time to get used to it, as usually I paint with good old cellulose or acrylic lacquers, but nothing looks better on a model than the real paint.

After having to grab another Trabant Universal kit of the shelf to borrow a few parts, both the front wiper arms were so badly molded I put in a parts request with Revell, so while I wait for them I thought I might as well take them out of another kit, I also broke one of the parcel shelf support bars getting it off the parts tree, so again I borrowed this from the same kit.
I had the bodyshell of the spare model sitting on the side, then it came to me, I had made a saloon, and building the Universal at the moment, so what about making the Van version, so I found some styrene sheet that was the correct thickness and used the side windows as templates, once cut out and sanded to fit the recesses meant for the windows, they were fixed in place with liquid cement, what colour it will be painted yet, I don't know, as I can't find that many photo's of the van on the internet, if anyone can help out with photo's and info' I would be very grateful

I've got a little side tracked on the van, for some reason I've started a few more 601 Saloon's, one a 601S in Glacier blue, and a 601S "Deluxe" which will be done in Papyrus white with a Panama green roof panel, just need to get a few bills out the way first before ordering in the paint from Germany,

The Glacier blue 601 build can be seen here :- http://geoffbrowns-modelling.webs.com/glacier-blue-trabant-601s

I really haven't done much to the Deluxe model, but that can be seen here :- http://geoffbrowns-modelling.webs.com/trabant-601-deluxe

A little update on the Glacier Blue 601S, it's now starting to look a little more like a Trabant
