So, I was just wondering what sort of other Trabi stuff everyone has. I am thinking things along the lines of clothing, posters, toys etc...I think it would be fun to see what everyone has. I have lots and will post more later...but this one will get us started. It is my Trabi wall in my basement:

For some reason it wouldn't let me post the picture above...here it is.

I've got the same IKEA Trabi poster!
It's way too big for my little home but oh well.

That and a whole Trabant as well, with a neat Sachsenring "S" Keychain.

Do you happen to know the product # for that IKEA picture, I don't have it but I want it.

JASONCHAD, great idea for a topic too, I'm going to make it a sticky so it stays at top!

Here is my shelf at work:
Piece of Duroplast with Trabant emblem
    Old wing style emblem
    Trabant diorama
A few toys ( I am actually missing a 1:18 scale Trabant Kombi...I took it to the painter to show him how I wanted my car painted.

I will look for an IKEA product # when I get home.

Alas, IKEA discontinued their best ever print a couple of years ago. I believe it was named simply "TRABI".
I got mine before Comrade Trabi arrived in the USA, back in 2010.

Oh, I have a little matchbox style Trabi, a decent amount of spares, including but not limited to a complete passenger side door.

I have two old pistons which are just totally worn out, one of which I cleaned and polished and use as a pencil/pen holder on my desk at work.

I also have an awesome little clock that Keri actually made and sent me. It is so good I thought it was actually manufactured that way.

I want to see a picture of the clock!

Great clock! I love the Sachsenring at the 12 o'clock hour!

I do too. Like I said, Keri made that. I think she did fantastic work and I would LOVE to know how to do them myself so I could sell them on here to make a little extra revenue to grow the siteOr she could do it and make a little extra for her too, but I don't think she wants to do that.

Nevertheless, it sits on my desk at work so I get to look at it everyday.

    It's a fine Socialist clock!

    Sachsenring's very own trademarks,
imposed upon a Soviet Russian inspired clock face,
set into a clock from the People's Republic of China
by a fanatical Socialist in Red.

    At midnight during a thunderstorm!

    They cannot be sold*
    They can only be Awarded**

By the way, my personal clock is not a Trabi variant. It's a model 4б with a red star and most of the original Cyrillic writing, which I updated to reflect movement type and country of manufacture, or at least assembly.

    * due to licensing restrictions of Trabi Trademarks imposed in Germany after the Capitalists took over. Foul Pigs!
** in a secret midnight Ceremony*** involving 13 Loyal Comrades, a copy of Das Kapital, Vodka, a rubber band and a AA battery. Just ask Justin! He survived.

I have a Vitesse model I bought back in the 90s, a Matchbox version, another one that looks like a Matchbox but does not have any writing underneath it. A book entitled "Trabant : Duraplast in pastel" of something. Keychain of course. I've got two models with a piece of the Berlin Wall coming as soon as I can get to the bank and make a transfer. I guess it pays to read wheather the guy accepts Paypal or not before purchasing.

I don't know if this counts or not but I have an original oval DDR badge but it's bigger than what I anticipated (about 6" to 7" long) and not sure if I want to bolt it on the car or not. The black paint has worn off in places. I'm going to try to polish it up then touch up where the black paint has rubbed off rather than completely repainting it. If it turns out OK I might bolt it to the car.

I'd like to know how stamped licence plates were painted. They must be ran through a machine with a paint roller that with just the correct amount of pressure hits the top of the stamped portion of the plate.

I have made several attempts to repaint old licence plates with no success. I have tried taping off around the numbers. Then taping over the numbers. Both of those methods looked like crap because the paint bleeds underneath the tape.

Then I tried painting the plate black then white allowing it to cure for several months then wetsanding the white paint off the letters only to wetsand down to the metal.

I have also tried painting the entire plate then using a brush to paint the numbers and letters. That turned out like crap as well.

One idea I had was to use one of those washable lint removers as a paint roller. A foam roller might compress too much.

I have tried to do the same with plates and with no success......You can buy very nice, authentic looking reproductions, there is a thread on it where I think Andrew recently purchased some, he showed pictures too and they came out fantastic.

I think the original plates were painted by people rounded up by the Stassi :) The original plates I have on the Trabi are painted on...but the Wartburg has black stickers...I think it is original, has the round dimple in the plate for the registration tag or whatever it was for.

Yeah I had www.licenceplates.tv make up a Serbian licence plate for my Yugo. Unlike a lot of cars sent over here with special bumpers for US licence plates, Yugos had an adapter that bolted in it's place so it was a perfect fit.

I cut down some carriage bolts and painted them black to fill in where the nylon inserts went. But in order to get a wrench in behind it, I'll have to remove the bumper. No big deal, just too busy spending my limited time on my Trabant.

They do not offer a DDR style plate but said they could replicate one if you sent them a photo and the size. I opted for a used German plate I found off Ebay from the town the Trabant was made in.
