Hi Guys, my name is Tom. I was born in Poland, and a Trabant was my very first car. After many years in the U.S., I decided to find one again in Poland and bring it over.

I was quite fortunate—the car I purchased had belonged to a disabled owner who had only one leg, so it is a HYCOMAT version with a semi-automatic shifting system. A very clever solution for its time. He rarely drove it and kept it stored in his garage for years. The car was manufactured in 1987 and currently has only 5,522 original kilometers and virtually zero rust!

I bought it exactly 10 years ago with the intention of restoring it to like-new condition. Unfortunately, my workload has become so demanding that I simply don’t have the time to take on a project like this.

During shipping to the U.S., the car was not properly secured in the container and sustained some very minor damage—a small dent in the rear, along with damage to the front bumper and headlight rings. I have already purchased replacement parts for all of these items, and they will, of course, be included with the car. In fact, I acquired a wide range of additional parts a couple of years ago, anticipating the restoration. Below is the full list—everything on it is included except for the engine and gearbox. Those were purchased new and were quite expensive, but in reality, a new engine isn’t necessary. I only bought one because I had planned to convert the HYCOMAT system to a standard 4-speed with a conventional clutch—purely a matter of personal preference.

As you can see, the package includes everything needed for a complete restoration, even new wheels with brand new tires. My asking price for the car and all the parts is $7,500 with very little room for negotiation, if any. This car basically set in the garage for the past 39 years.

The car was in the working condition when I bought it. At present, it is not in running condition, only due to fuel leaks beneath the tank caused by deteriorated rubber gaskets in the fuel valve. However, all replacement parts for this issue are included.
