I just took the heads off, yeah. Did them one at a time to keep from throwing carbon from one side down the hole on the other side.

I think the clutch is still slipping. sad smiley

Check the pedal has some free play in it. Mine started slipping after giving many rides at the Nov. Trabi meet. Adjusted it a lil loose, got some more life out of it...

push the pedal down with your hand. Should be like half an inch max that it goes down before you feel resistance.

It may have been too tight. I loosened it up but haven't gone for another drive.

Got out for a spin during lunch. Still seems to be slipping. Makes some noise with the clutch in, too. I don't like it. sad smiley

I had to file down the pressure plate to fit the flywheel. I wonder if it's not seated straight. I also broke a bolt over tightening it (put one of the old ones back in) maybe others were broken and I didn't know... Or the flywheel needed to be replaced or resurface (looked ok) and it's slipping there.

Ugh... It's getting too hot for this. grinning smiley

Maybe the carbon throwout bearing is loose, or cocked? Might also be the pressure pate springs are weak, and or cracked.

Ok the noises were my license plate bracket vibrating against the bumper.

Accelerating up hill, especially in 4th really feels/sounds like it's slipping but now I don't know if I'm imagining it. Maybe I'm fighting the freewheel.

I guess I wait and see what breaks, if anything.

It is probably best to not accelerate up hills while in 4th gear, as this puts much stress on the freewheel and also the engine crankshaft... Why not downshift to 3rd instead?

Because it was screaming in 3rd gear. So, I was either going fast enough for 4th or the clutch was slipping...

Anyway...point noted.

If it only slips in 4th gear it could be a slipping freewheel. Hopefully not.
