I don't know about that. But I did stay in a holiday inn express once.
Seriously though that sounds more like a carb issue than a fuel issue. Maybe the liquid fuel in the float bowl is evaporating and finding its way into the cylinder, flooding the engine. That would cause hard starting and black smoke, especially if there were little air. Check your plugs. Do they foul often?

I used to think these hot starting issues were related to E10 because my Yugo started having issues when they started replacing 10% of gasoline with ethanol about seven years ago. But I run non E10 in my Trabant and still have the same issue. I wondered if it was reformulated gasoline which shows up around May that is causing the problem. Perhaps it has a lower boiling point? My theory is the gasoline boils, and floods the engine and wets the plugs.

It sounds like a drop of water in the bottom of the float-bowl.... common enough and usually caused by condensation in the fuel tank. Keep the tank topped up as far as practicable, to prevent condensation forming and if it persists, add a bit of methylated spirits. It mixes with both water and petrol (gasoline) to form an evenly distributed emulsion which can be burnt away.

Looks like any water in the bottom of the fuel bowl would eventually be sucked up through the jets. This happens each and every time!
