If you decide you want to sell any bits used to do the conversion I'd be interested in buying them from you. From the looks of the car is there anything salvagable from the conversion?
Yes, the engine and transmission are in tact. A Hungarian mechanic friend of mine wants to install it into my new one. But I was told that the fire department used the fire extinguisher to shut off my engine instead of turning the key. So I think the carb ingested some extinguishing agent. Besides, I and the car are in Hungary and have no way of getting this to you.
The "book" is nearly 100 pages with some fold-out tech drawings. I cannot exactly get that to you either.

About ten years ago I bought two Yugo parts cars. The white one has been stripped of useable parts and the body is gone but I have not had a chance to strip the red one down yet!
Both cars had low miles on them but had been sitting for about 15 years. They only saw about 2 years of use before they were wrecked. No doubt the bald tires on the fronts had something to do with how they ended up in an accident. Back in those days insurance companies would not issue you a "collision" policy on Yugos because if they were involved in an accident they cost more to repair than they were worth.
I don't know the story behind both cars but it's obvious the white one was rolled. I was amazed that the only glass that was broken was the windshield. The red one suffered a major blow to the front end but from the firewall back is OK. I'm thinking about cutting the front end off, inserting a piece of angle iron under the fake driveshaft tunnel and making an enclosed trailer out of it.

Well, bad news today. The Hungarian Central Investigation Office found ME at fault for my accident.
1. I disregarded the signal to stop (Rainy day, a guy in camouflage waving his hands). In their own testimony, they said I did not slow down or turn. In my testimony, I mentioned that is a good indication that I did not see him!
2. I disregarded the speed limit of 30 km/h. Truth is, they determined that I was going 47-48 km/h, and I have proof that this was a 50 km/h zone... now changed to 30 after my accident. I was in charge of training, and I have a copy of the original training material that proves this.
I have 8 days to appeal. [sliding the boxing gloves on] Originally there were criminal charges against the two guys opening the door with the cable across the road. They dropped all those charges, which is fine with me. I don't believe they were trying to kill me. But they shouldn't say It's MY fault. It seems they are shifting the blame to dodge any liability. The letter I received today made it seem that I intentionally drove my car into the cable. They said the cable, although unmarked, could be clearly seen, I disregarded commands to stop, and sped recklessly and somewhat intentionally into the cable and nearly decapitated myself.
They also mentioned that my engine was changed "with permission" that was capable of reaching 135 km/h. And my tires were not OEM size, changed "without permission" which were slightly wider than stock. How does any of this relate to my accident?
There is an international lawyer involved from my company (Boeing) that I will be talking to tomorrow.
Unbelievable.

Bad luck, man. They seem to have lower road safety standards over there. One time in Budapest I almost drove my Wartburg into a huge hole they had dug in the middle of a small suburban street as wide as the whole street and deep as a car. The guys were just standing around watching and some other driver coming from the other way in a minivan didn't stop in time and was teetering half over the edge of the hole. Here they would have had it blocked all the way around with lots of orange barriers and signs. Is your own insurance covering your bills at least or are you totally hung out to dry?

No. They just said that since I didn't stop for the guy in camouflage waving his hands on a rainy day, and going 47 - 48 m/h in a 50 km/h zone (which they say was 30, but I have proof otherwise), I am "responsible for the accident." No fines or penalties against me. That's good, I guess.

OK. I didn't know you were driving down a road. I miss read your earlier post.
For some reason I thought you were driving across a paved lot at the airport where you work and there was a steel cable stretched across two poles or something as a barrier and due to the rain you couldn't see it because they neglected to hang orange flags or something across it to make it visable.
What the hell were two guys doing stretching a cable across a main road? I assume they were the Hungarian equvilant to TDOT road workers?
Glad your making a recovery.

With them finding you at fault how does that affect your insurance payout on it.
Thankfully it does not affect my insurance.

They were two Hungarian military members pulling opening a large hangar door with a cable attached to the front of their truck, which ended up across the road. This happened on the air base I work at as a contractor.
