A Chevbant, or maybe I like Trebolet better
James, where in knoxville did you have your re-plating done? I have some stuff on the Jag Mk X, and this past weekend looked at a Morris Minor ( this project unknown yet, we are way off on the price) that will need bumpers and trim done

forgot to ask about the pitting
Did this resolve with the respray? If silicone has even been in the same room with the car it is difficult to remove and will "fish eye", so I never use any silicone waxes, though somehow I cannot convince my wife the "spray on, wipe off" stuff may have problems down the road, On the other hand, she can clean a car!!

Yes, it is chrome tape. But it did not apply very well. You can see the wrinkles on the top where it bunched together. I even applied it with a hairdryer, but did not help much.

Yes, mostly. But I had very bad orange peel. It's not perfect now, but I am happy with it. Not bad for a first-time paint job.

I think it's this place:

http://www.knoxcustomchrome.com/

Don't fool with the chrome plater in Elizabethton, TN. They do OK work if the piece has no rust but they don't do any repair work. They just plate over top of it. They told me they could not repair my rear bumper on my 68 Ford. Too many pits. Yet any plater can fill in pits with solder or by welding and grinding it down. I asked them why they couldn't do this and they said it took too much time and they didn't do it.

I called the place in Knoxville and not only did they find me a bumper, replated it for the same price the shop in Elizabethton charged me to replate my front bumper and didn't even ask for a deposit. So they called me a week later and I drove down there and picked it up.

$150 I think. That was around 2000. Probably went up since then.

When I walked in, there was this old man (like in his late 80s) sitting there hammering on a piece of alumnium trim. It was dented all to hell. He was showing me how he was repairing it. He would bent the dents out from the inside out then grind down the bumps on the outside then polish it. Real nice work.

I found some of this tape on Ebay but unless I see it in person, I'm hesitant to try it.

I have seen some that goes down the side of doors but it may be too thick to bend around the lips of the bumper.
