Today markes my 11 year teaching auto shop, and has been a great journey. I have done many projects in the shop with them, from building a lead sled, to race cars and go-karts, drift trikes soap box derby. Only one has stuck that is building cyclekarts we have built a few and plan on keep building them. We will continue to host shop nights for those that want to learn more about cyclekarts. Today students started reviewing the list of cyclekarts that are planned. We are going to need to build a double decker trailer for events.
We Started with a Buick Bug that was mostly built by me to know and understand the outlines of cyclekarts. The MG came next which was built with a lot of help from the students, this cyclekart has proven itself many times over. From there the collection has grown quickly. With donation of beautiful #32 wasp cyclekart and the purchase of shiny #7 Mercury Speedster. This did not slow the students down, we also built two that year being #18 Hanomag (go-Dog-go) and #69 Wasp. those cyclekarts being completed or close to when COVID hit schooling hard. The following year we started our next two, #168 Mor Dauphin (The Coffin) and #32 Ford Speedster, these cyclekarts are in their final stages and should be hitting the races, parades and cars shows this summer. There is no slowing down here at Bonneville High School. We have three more already started for next school year; the 1909 Bédélia BD2 MG. The update of the #79 1910 Buick Bug using aluminum ladder as its frame. As well as a CycleCAR, a 1909 Mack Truck C-cab. I say cyclecar because it uses a larger engine and spare car tire for its wheels, all of this being done so that it can be used as a tow truck for parades if a cyclekart does break down in the middle of the parade route
