If it's MIG you will be surprised how easy it is. Little bit like icing a cake with a pastry bag. And remember, if it sounds like frying bacon, you are doing it right!

Thanks Dennis, Helps to know what other cockpit sizes are to see if I'm in the ball park. Old 27 looks comfortable.

You probably know this but I will mention it anyway. Good way to check if frame is square in horizontal plane is to take X measurements from right rear to left front and left rear to right front. If they are the same, you should be square.

Brian,Which car have you decided on as inspiration? You could now cut curves into the sides of your chassis rails, bend the tops to suit and weld them up as you presumably intended. the only thing to bear in mind is that the curves will be longer than the top unless you cut them back into the rail about an inch. (see my post under Bugatti type 35)JohnR

John,Going for a Bugatti style with slightly small rear end. This is whats in my head (see pictures ) I also like the 1926 ford so may see elements of that as well.I got the peel back of the rails idea for you John thanks. I will keep it simpler with rounding the front and adding a half circle welded in

Yes the Bugattis are beautiful cars. I think it is important to keep a check on the size of the rear end as it can dominate the car. Obviously it has to cover the engine but with the petrol tank relocated it doesn't seem to need too much space.Keep up the good work.JohnR
